Anticline Draft EIS Will Be Out Nov. 26
Public comment will extend until February 2000.
by Rob Shaul

The often delayed and postponed Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the 900-well Pinedale Anticline Natural Gas Project has gone to the printer and will be out on the street for public review November 26th. Prill Mecham, who was just named to replace Leslie Theiss as Field Manager for the Pinedale Area BLM office, informed the Sublette County Commissioners of the pending DEIS Tuesday morning.

Ms. Mecham told the commissioners the public comment period on the EIS will extend until February 1, 2000. The final decision for the project is expected later next spring, in time for next year's drilling season.

Town Sponsoring Transportation Issues Meeting

One of the most important and contentious issues surrounding the Anticline project is oilfield traffic flow through Pinedale and construction of new roads to support the drilling. To this end, the Town of Pinedale, lead by council member Jeffrey Reising, is hosting a public meeting to address roads, transportation and traffic issues related to the Anticline's development. The meeting will take place Thursday, November 18 from 7-9 p.m. in the Pinedale Library.
