No Recent Sightings of Pinedale's Mountain Lion
Big cat hasn't been seen in a week
by Jennifer Binning

According to Pinedale Animal Control Officer Julie Early, there have been no reported sightings of a mountain lion in town for over a week.

"I think he is out of town," she said on Wednesday. "I have not seen anything, and no one is talking about it," she continued, "no one is missing their pets, so I think he has left town for now." Ms. Early expects that once the weather changes, he may return to town.

Game Warden Dennis Almquist feels there is enough readily available wild prey to keep the lion well fed and out of town, thus lowering the risk for the "meals on a string," or small dogs that are kept tied up in an owners back yard.

The last known sighting was on Opal Street, over a week ago, when Les Margo saw the feline walk casually across her backyard, disappearing into the Pine Creek green belt. The Game and Fish was called, but they were unable to locate the animal.
