Exxon-Mobil Merger Won't Affect Jobs in Sublette County

The multi-billion dollar merger between Exxon Corporation and Mobil Oil won't affect jobs in Sublette County, says Exxon public relations official Bill Tanner in Cheyenne.

"We don't anticipate any reduction in workforce," said Mr. Tanner in an interview this week. Mobil employs approximately 13 employees in the Big Piney/LaBarge area. Exxon employs upwards of 75 employees at its LaBarge Operations in southern Sublette County.

Mr. Tanner added that the merger will not affect the vast majority of operations in Wyoming, however, the new company is still working on its organization to determine what the reporting relationships will be. "A merger of this magnitude will take some time to shake out," concluded Mr. Tanner.
