First Breath of Spring

Born at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, the first day of Spring, this as-yet-unnamed filly measured a whopping 5 hands, and weighed perhaps 30 pounds. Mom, Dolly - who measures 9 hands- and Dad, Buddy are part of a miniture horse herd raised by Edward Jochumsen of Cora.

According to Dr. Brent Dean of the Animal Clinic of Pinedale where the filly was born, mother and daughter are doing exceptionally well.

Poodle pup.
Also making an appearance at the clinic were the new triplet toy poodle pups born to Toby Lee and Tinker Lee over the weekend of March 18 - 19. Toby and Tinker's excited humans are Fred and Nancy Shriver of Pinedale, who have just begun to breed toy poodles as a hobby. The largest of the three pups, a black male, weighed just 1.12 oz. when he was born, and has gained .17 oz. in just three days. The smallest, an apricot female, tipped the scales at .91 oz. and already has a home waiting for her when it is time to leave the nest. All the pups were between 4 and 5 inches long at birth, and were growing rapidly.
