Sublette Named "Most Dependent" on O&G Jobs
15.2% of county's jobs are in oil and gas,
by Rob Shaul

The Wyoming Department of Employment has named Sublette as the Wyoming county most dependent upon oil and gas jobs in the state. The department took the total number of people employed in the county in 1997 and compared it to the number of those employed directly in the oil and gas industry.

According to the report, the 1997 average employment in Sublette County was 2,042 people. Of these, 310, or 15.2% worked directly in the oil and gas industry.

Big Horn County in the northern part of the state was deemed the second most depended. In that county, 9.2% of the jobs were in oil and gas.

Six Wyoming counties, including Teton County, had less than 1% employment in the oil and gas industry.
